The year-round population on Cliff Island is very small. In the summer, however, there is an influx of tourists and summer residents. Year-round houses are often shrouded in lobster traps and bouys, reflecting the vital lobstering-based economy. Almost every islander knows who lives where, as well as the unique history of each house. For this reason, there prevails a sense of individuality as each house demonstrates, as well as a tightly knit community.
