"THE LITTLE LOG HOUSE"

At the end of the road just beyond Cliff Island's ball-field is a lane marked by a homemade sign reading "Private Way". In full view at the end of the lane is a nearly 100 year old cottage best known since the movie was filmed there in 1986 as "The Whales of August" cottage
On the right side of the lane, behind the hedge row, stands the Little Log House, marking the entrance to the ample 2.8 acres which comprise what is familiar to the islanders as Pitkin Point. The log house was built in the island way ~ on a handshake between Frank Pitkin and island builder Bob Howard in 1992, fulfilling one of Frank's life-long dreams - to live in a log cabin.
In this 38'x24' year-round log house, the large kitchen is open to the living room under a cathedral ceiling. The back of the house has 2 bedrooms and a combination bathroom-laundry with washer and drier. There are two small roofed porches looking out at the southwest Cove. The house accommodates two people.
Clear water comes from a dug well on the property. Lawns on both the east and west sides of the property open onto small private swimming beaches in the shelter of the cliff.
